theodoreinharborIf you’re travelling with kids, the highlight of their trip to Halifax will most certainly be a harbour tour on Theodore Too. A full sized replica of Theodore Tugboat, the star of the television series of the same name, Theodore Too was built in 2006 to offer kid-friendly tours of Halifax harbour.

Along the tour, your kids will see real-life versions of all of Theodore’s TV show friends, and can check off each sight they see in an activity book that they’ll get free on the boat.

The tour guide is usually a local theater student who is enthusiastic and quite fun. During the tour, your child will have an opportunity to hop in the Captain’s chair and wear the Captain’s hat while you snap a picture.

After the tour, you can buy pins, hats, Theodore bath toys, shirts and videos of Theodore Tugboat episodes at the gift shop.

You’ll also want to visit the nearby Maritime Museum to see the authentic set from the Theodore Tugboat series.

The tour lasts about 45 minutes, and is a little tedious for adults, but it’s an unforgettable experience for your little one that’s well worth the time and admission to try.
