A Tour of Alexander Keith’s

Alexander Keiths Stags Head PubA must for any beer-loving visitor to Halifax is the Alexander Keith’s tour.

It’s not a brewery tour, but rather an historical re-enactment with living history actors taking you back in time to the early days of Alexander Keith’s brewery through the original buildings.

Beginning rather startlingly with your nineteenth century tour guide greeting you in the gift shop, suspending your disbelief will lead to an entertaining tour that includes a short video, and a visit to a mock period brewery.

The tour ends of with a bang when you go through underground tunnels visit the Stag’s Head Tavern where the actors entertain you with music, songs, and some tavern games while you sample a pint or two of your favorite beer straight from the cask.

While the beer is offered only to adults, the tour is fun for kids as well, as it moves pretty quickly and is filled with songs and interesting characters. Lemonade was offered to the under-18 crowd so they too can whet their whistles in the pub.
